Didn’t have to work weekends and was able to take time off as needed.

What I wish was different

Work was hard and probably should have paid more. I would have had more access and independence within the workplace

Advice

Personal relations will make or break a job. I fortunately had good relations with my supervisors

Resident Conference Assistant

May - August 2019 • Anderson, IN

What I liked

It was a great way to work hands on with customer service, and have constant day to day operations of camps/conferences. Every day was totally different.

What I wish was different

Communication is a big factor. Without it or even having partial communication between boss and employees, or between employees, things will fall apart.

Advice

If you have the opportunity to join, do it 100%. It’s a great way to learn new skills and have great experience.

Digital Communications Intern

May 2019 • Anderson, IN

What I liked

I like the opportunity to have freedom to do ideas I had for social media.

What I wish was different

I wish there was more of an opportunity to meet with different groups of people on campus.

Advice

Sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone to grow and talk with other people. Sitting behind a desk will not help you build content.

Museum Intern

May 2019 • Anderson, IN

What I liked

Getting to be part of a team handling research and design for the reopening of our campus museum has been fantastic! Exploring the archives has been my favorite part - handling old documents and photographs is quite honestly like getting to time travel.

What I wish was different

I enjoyed the project immensely and love that I’m continuing to work there this semester. If I had to change anything, I would have wanted to work in the archives more!

Advice

Make sure you interact with all of the supervisors on your internship projects, not just your direct supervisor! Communicating with others opens up opportunities to help in other aspect of the job - the other supervisor of my internship project was the reason I got a chance to go to my new favorite place on campus: the archives!
