What I liked
I really enjoyed getting to know more about the sheer amount of resources that the library has - not just in Special Collections's map, photo, book, and newspaper resources, but also the other resources that the library as a whole offers in integration with Special Collections.
The opportunity to do work in partnership with the National Park Service as well felt really motivating because my work really mattered and it would help any researchers who happen to use the website we helped create.
Getting to present at a conference for the Society of California Archivists was wonderful as well -- I got to learn about other aspects of archival from other librarians across California, and the networking opportunities didn't hurt, either.
Since I grew up in Humboldt County, learning more about the history behind all our natural resources here was very insightful.
As an intern for the library, supervisors understand that school and your personal life are priorities as well, and with the support of my supervisors I was easily able to maintain a reasonable work-school balance.
