What I liked

I enjoy getting to interact with a lot of different people. Before starting to work at DQ, I was very quiet and had a very hard time talking to people that I didn't know. In the 3 years that I have worked there, my social skills have improved immensely and I now talk to almost everyone I see.

What I wish was different

The main thing that I would like to be different is the management. There is sometimes a lot of drama in the store, and instead of stopping it, the managers usually feed into it. This can make work a pretty toxic environment to be in. I feel as though this shouldn't have to be such a big part of coming to work everyday.

Advice

My advice is to go and try a job that might be a little out of your comfort zone. You'll end up learning a lot about yourself and it will help you to grow in that area of weakness.

I honestly wish I would have stayed the first time, but personal things happened and I had to quite. Now I'm back and better than ever.

What I liked

The comradery was the best part of the job. All of the girls there were mostly in high school and their opinions helped me shape how I would start teaching during the fall. Also, I enjoyed speaking with customers and helping with anything that makes the day more productive and safe.

What I wish was different

Personally, I wish that there was a manager there at all times instead of having senior crew (closers) to be in charge of the day to day operations at night since the only manager worked until 5 pm at the latest. There were several things that could have been avoided and reported earlier that would have made the place more communicative and honest.

Advice

Pay attention to who is working on what part of the order. The area is small and busy so you can easily get lost in what you're doing unless the entire crew is working together.

I enjoyed the experience I received, as they was my first job.

What I wish was different

I wish my pay had been higher the first year and a half I was employed. It started at $7.50/hr the first year and a half. I received a raise and was making $10/hr this past summer.

I wish I had gotten more hours but I understand that there were a lot of workers and everyone has to get a fair share of hours.

Advice

Sometimes you have to work in conditions that aren't ideal or with workers that aren't ideal workers, but either way you have to work as hard as you can during the job and perform the same regardless.
