What I liked

Friendly co-workers and bosses, great team work and plenty of experience to help you come out of your shell.

What I wish was different

Wish I could have had a little more exposure to the engineering/electrical sides of things, but it was understandable.

Advice

Don't ever be afraid to tell a company / business you want to intern with them, even if you don't think it's likely to land a job, you may be surprised.

What I liked

Perfect for working full-time during the summer, and very flexible to be part-time during the school year - they built a schedule that worked for me. Lots of variety, and you learn plenty of different roles. A busy-pace so you're never bored, but lots of resources available for help at all times.

IT Analyst Intern

May - August 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

The experience was amazing. It is a real like experience in the work force. The project you are given is not a made up project. It is a project that should be completed in the 10 weeks and will benefit the company. It gave me a great opportunity to network and learn new skill sets from different department people in the IT organization.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was longer, the 10 weeks flew by.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give is to take advantage of this opportunity if you get it and network with as many people as you can. Ask to shadow them or sit in on knowledge share meetings.

IT Intern

May - August 2019 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

I liked the upgrade that had just been made to the office, converting them from cubicle style to more open spaced work place. Also my supervisor and mentor where very hands-on and up to date on every thing I was working on. The rest of the team where very eager to help me whenever I needed it.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a more exciting project to work on. My project didn't require a lot of interaction with other teams or members of my team.

Advice

Ask as many questions you can about everything that concerns/affects the work you're doing. The answers you get help you form a big picture of the magnitude of teams objectives and what each persons contributes as well as helping you know where you fit in and who could help you do your job better.

Process Engineering Intern

May - August 2019 • Perdue Hill, AL

What I liked

I enjoyed working with other process engineers across different engineering disciplines. It allowed us to all collaborate and use our different backgrounds to find solutions. The process Engineering department uses multiple softwares to track information about the processes so it was also interesting to learn how to use such softwares and how they work.

What I wish was different

This role requires mostly desk work at a computer which at times can be tedious and monotonous.

Advice

I would suggest learning as much as you can about whatever you can when you get the chance. Do not be afraid to ask questions.

Internal Audit Intern

May - August 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

My internship experience was incredibly challenging-in the best way possible. My team was tasked with experimenting with new ways to integrate a new software called Alteryx into our Internal Audit Process. We ended up spending a week on site at one of our facility's outside of Toronto, Canada conducting an Internal Financial Control audit of that facility. I learned more in ten weeks there than I have in four years of school!

What I wish was different

We worked on so many different areas leading up to our on site audit that it was hard for me personally to keep track of some of the different details pertaining to the different areas. I felt like a master of none more than an expert in one part of the audit.

Advice

Come in and be ready to learn! My team did not expect me to come in knowing anything and I honestly didn't. Just have a positive attitude, write everything down, and ask questions all the time. People do want to help you learn if you are willing to be a good learner.
