I really liked a lot of things about working at Hexagon. The people were the best part of the job. Everyone that I got to work with were super nice, and extremely helpful. Also, even though I was an intern, I was given important work to do, and my opinions were valued.
What I wish was different
Interns did not get any paid time off. There were a couple days during the summer that I needed to take off, and I was allowed to, but I didn’t get paid. Also, even though Hexagon is closed for Holidays like July Fourth, interns do not get paid; they just lose the money.
Advice
I would say that students looking for an internship should not limit themselves to jobs that only involve their majors. I’m a mechanical engineering major, but I worked on a software development team testing software this summer. I really learned a lot from my experience, even though I wasn’t working on mechanical engineering projects.

What I liked
Hexagon's culture is AMAZING. The company executives are fairly transparent with expectations and market placement. In addition, Hexagon hosted a 24 hour hackathon and several other awesome company events with food and open bar. The office is a really cool building with decent accommodations.
What I wish was different
Some of the tools are outdated such as version control, ticket systems, and some VB6 development.
Advice
Definitely get to know your team and other around you, there's some ridiculous talent there. Make sure to be clear about your expectations/aspirations with managers, they're there to help!
