About Highland Community College

HCC is a small, vibrant community college in northwest Illinois, within 125 miles of Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin. HCC offers more than 60 programs of applied and transfer degrees, lifelong learning and business training. In addition to academic programming, Highland provides athletics, theater, art and music opportunities for students and community. Highland is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The College was established in 1962 and serves Stephenson, Ogle, JoDaviess, and Carroll counties. The College's permanent facilities consist of 9 centers: Liberal Arts, Natural Science and Health, Technology, Fine Arts, Sports/YMCA, Community Services, Student/Conference Center, Wind Turbine Technician Training and Child Care/Training. The beautiful campus includes a pond, natural prairie, woodlands, outdoor study areas, softball and baseball diamonds, physical education fields and a multi-purpose athletic field. The campus has been designated as a regional arboretum by the Illinois Department of Conservation. The College's Core Values are Integrity, Compassion and Respect.
