Mission

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA), one of three major branches in the Department of Veterans Affairs, focuses on providing a comprehensive healthcare system for the nation's Veterans. VHA’s goal for medical care is to ensure that quality medical care is provided on a timely basis within the law to all authorized Veterans.

Each VHA healthcare facility is located in one of 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) spanning the United States and its territories. VISN 15, VA Heartland Network, provides health care services to Veterans in Kansas and Missouri, as well as parts of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Arkansas.

The Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center (KC VAMC) is one of eight medical centers in VISN 15. The mission of the KC VAMC is to provide high quality, comprehensive primary and tertiary healthcare to Veterans in our service area, and to provide selected specialty care services to referred Veterans. It is also our mission to provide education and training to healthcare professionals and to perform research that benefits Veterans.

Vision

The vision of the Kansas City VAMC is to: (a) be a leader in healthcare and the provider of choice for Veterans, (b) provide quality healthcare in a timely and seamless manner while expanding access to care, (c) provide rich educational opportunities for healthcare professionals/trainees and be on the cutting edge of research in collaboration with academic institutions, and (d) provide an environment conducive to recruitment and retention of exceptional employees..

Key Business Drivers
