Fashion Design Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I was able to design hands-on for Lane Bryant. Not only was I able to design actual capsule collections, but I was also able to work with cross-functional teams as well to see the collections all the way through. The internship program was so beneficial and a great way to network.

What I wish was different

I wish the program was more connected with other interns. Since I was the only intern at the Lane Bryant Design office I wasn't able to connect with the other interns in the Columbus office as much.

Advice

Go into the internship with an open mind. I took on more than my initial responsibilities, and I was able to be more of an asset to more colleagues.

Sales Associate

July - August 2018 • Tinton Falls, NJ

What I liked

I enjoyed working with plus size girls to find them clothes that fit and made them feel beautiful. I also liked some of my coworkers, that I grew quite close to in the short time I worked there.

What I wish was different

Sometimes the atmosphere was a bit rigid, and there were times when attitudes became hostile between other workers, which could make work stressful. I also have joint issues and so being on my feet for long hours can be hard.

Advice

Find a company that you like to work for. I like Lane Bryant because plus size women are at a great disadvantage to find clothes that fit and look good, and LB strives to help.

Style Advisor

June - August 2019 • Douglasville, GA

What I liked

I had the best first job experience with Justice. This position was not an average job in retail but an opportunity to be a role model and positive light for the next generation of young women. Through the welcoming, optimistic environment, I was able to happily engage with both mom and girl to create a positive customer experience while also building the self esteem of girls between the age range of 7-12. Everyday, I was able to approach work with a positive attitude. I also had the ability to properly communicate and interact with fellow associates and customers. I acquired the skills of team building, problem solving, customer service, and effective communication. I would strongly recommend this job position to those new to the workforce or interested in pursuing a career in retail, management, fashion, and business.

Sales Associate

July 2018 - September 2019 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I really like my coworkers and this job gave me more experience in customer service and what it's like to work on the lowest ranks for a corperate organization. I also have/had amazing bosses.

What I wish was different

I wish I was getting paid a higher wage, but it is technically above minimum wage in Ohio, which is roughly $8.50. I also wish there was more we could do about theft then just trying to prevent it

Advice

This goes for any job, especially customer/client based job, but always maintain respect, kindness, and patience in any situation.

Planning & Allocations Intern

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The program was very focused on us as interns and developing our knowledge of the business. We had a chance to meet and talk with all of the executive leadership team, including our CEO, as well as to present our summer-long project to all of them! It was an incredible program and I would highly recommend it!

sales associate

What I liked

I liked having a flexible schedule and the type of clients we helped. I enjoy helping people and a lot of people are uncomfortable shopping for clothing and need some assistance, which is what we provide at ANN.

What I wish was different

Nothing.

Advice

Patience is key. Not everyone is going to want your help or know what they need. Always be patient and kind.
