What I liked

The people are all extremely amenable and make coming into work worth it

What I wish was different

The safety regulations could be improved, via ensuring that all employees are constantly wearing masks and instituting stronger distancing protocol, though the administration has certainly been making a concerted effort to keep everyone safe

Advice

I think it's a good job but you definitely have to be in control of your own safety when it comes to COVID. It is also necessary to constantly be ready to adapt your knowledge of the practices involved in your responsibilities, as Kroger has been in the process of renovating its departments since I joined

I would let people know that if you are going to be a retail pharmacy technician, you will be doing a lot of customer service.

What I liked

I liked interacting with the polite customers and learning from my coworkers, especially the older ones with interesting life stories.

What I wish was different

Being an essential worker in the midst of a pandemic led to plenty of angry customers, especially on days when I had to enforce our mask policy. One day, my coworker even brought a taser because a man came in maskless and continually threatened us. In addition, the national coin shortage caused some anger directed towards me as well.

Advice

I would advise a grocery store worker to not engage in fights with customers, but to be as cordial as possible. Although it is difficult, it is not worth it to exacerbate the situation.

What I liked

I loved getting to experience a new job and finally having customers that I could connect with. I especially loved when they’d stop by just to say hello even if they weren’t picking up a prescription.
