Moog, Inc

Engineering Co-op

May 2019 • East Aurora, NY

What I liked

I have received great real world experience with well rounded team. I am a member of the Product Lifecycle Management team where I was exposed to many different aspects of the business. I was even given the opportunity to visit another Moog facility in California!

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't underestimate yourself. This position was intimidating at first but has been my best experience so far during my career.

Electronics Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Torrance, CA

What I liked

The close relationship with my manager, who took time to answer all the intern's questions and make them feel included

What I wish was different

More hands on, electronics work. However, I was the least experienced intern, so got the least difficult work

Advice

I'd highly recommend, if you like a small company feel with lots of opportunities to move around and learn from lots of people

Engineering Co-op

June 2017 • East Aurora, NY

What I liked

Well structured for the most part. As an engineer you should be confident working with numbers, but this was a great experience working with people of all types. The Moog culture is interesting, despite so many claiming that it is dying. Paycheck is helpful for a starving college student; as far as I know Moog pays all their co-ops.

What I wish was different

Apparently the co-op program for the summer used to be much more immersive. There were planned activities, but only a few here and there.

Advice

If the opportunity is available and you have time, definitely go for a spring and/or fall block because the co-op supply is way less. It shows you're dedicated, and you'll be more likely to get projects you can put on your resume.

Process Quality Engineering Intern

May 2017 • East Aurora, NY

What I liked

An incredible focus on developing the skills you have, and importance placed on those which can be gained by working there.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to work with the different departments in the company as the few I worked with involved company-wide projects.

Advice

Make sure to branch out and work with the dynamic group of highly intelligent employees.

What I liked

The internship involved direct hands on work with engineers that were willing to explain what they were doing and entertain new ideas.

What I wish was different

My only regret is that i had but one summer to give to this internship.

Advice

Be ambitious about the projects you pursue, people bring in interns at Moog to find new perspectives not echo old ideas.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

May 2018 • Torrance, CA

What I liked

Lots of good people in the manufacturing department to learn from. Being shown the importance of quality work and the many aircraft that the parts go on was exciting.

What I wish was different

My manager and mentor got another job 3 weeks into my internship. I felt like I was stuck in limbo for a bit but the people around me all pitched in giving me good projects and teaching me.

Advice

Keep asking questions and ask for more work. When they passed work on to me and I completed it well, that was recognized. The work began to flow directly to me instead of be handed over by somebody that was busy.
