The Atmospheric Resource Board (ARB) is a quasi-judicial, quasi-legislative advisory and rule-making board under the supervision of the Water Commission and functions as a division of the Department of Water Resources.
ARB manages the North Dakota Cloud Modification Project (NDCMP). It is an operational program that seeds clouds for hail damage reduction and rain enhancement in western North Dakota. Counties currently participating in the program are Bowman, McKenzie, Mountrail, Williams, and part of Slope.
The ARB in cooperation with the University of North Dakota’s John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences (UND) have long recognized their shared roles in providing appropriate experience for students and young professionals. Our Pilot Internship Program is designed for the primary benefit of the persons placed on the program including: multi-engine flight hours (number of hours dependent on weather conditions), IFR and adverse weather flight experience, and operations experience for future employment as weather modification Pilots-In-Command (PIC).
We also hire intern meteorologists and radar meteorologists for the NDCMP.
