It was an incredible experience because I got to do a little bit of everything associated with public relations industry. I wrote and edited press releases, planned events, managed a statewide public health campaign for antibiotic awareness, assembled daily press clips, created social media content and revised the antibiotics pages of the Department of Health's website. I loved working in a friendly, supportive environment. My co-workers in the Office of Communications were amazing and always there to help me when I had a question.
What I wish was different
I wish the position would have started later and that I would've gotten paid during my lunch.
Advice
Never be afraid to try new things. I was asked to do things I had never done before, but it helped me learn so much more than I ever imagined I would. Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone. It will pay off in your future career and experience.
