Perimeter Church

Community Outreach Intern

May - August 2020 • Johns Creek, GA

What I liked

I liked the ability to learn what a non-profit can do when it has access to large sums of money and being able to work with people who are knowledgeable. Also, I was able to be a part of a cohort of multiple interns, half of which were not from my same ethnic background, which enhanced the learning and work that we did.

What I wish was different

I wish that we had more time to work in the office and to learn more about what an office environment consists of. Due to Covid restraints, we were restricted from doing some of the activities the program typically offers and were needed to help do more pressing tasks related to the virus and people being out of work.

Advice

Keep an open mind about what the summer will look like and be willing to be flexible and do what needs to be done!

Ozone Director

February - August 2019 • Johns Creek, GA

What I liked

Working at a church camp is incredibly fun even though very physically challenging. The people you work with are some of the best people you will ever meet.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time to get invested in the camp community over the summer.

Advice

The more you put into camp, the more you will get out of it. If you just show up on time then leave right once you can, you will miss so much of what makes camp so great.

What I liked

I enjoyed experiencing the culture of Tanzania, where we were working. As well as getting to serve the people there, and building relationships with other people on my team.

What I wish was different

I wish it had been longer.

Advice

Go in with an open mind and heart, as well as a flexible schedule!
