Intern

April 2016 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

great exposure to a high-level of business decisions, totally your prerogative to get the most out of it and they encourage you to network and create your own projects to run with

What I wish was different

i wish every intern specific experiences would be more universal... different teams involved interns differently throughout the team's day-to-day which can really change the experience

Advice

take advantage of every opportunity to meet with people and build your network. try to get the most exposure to the most sides of the business as possible. be flexible as well

Capital Markets Technology Business Analyst

May - August 2017 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

I was allowed to get extremely involved in the work. My voice and opinions were heard, and some of my suggestions were even implemented. Great work environment with lots of opportunities.

What I wish was different

I wish there were less required intern events. Some of them were pretty cool, but some of it was just a little too much.

Advice

If you want to try something, ask for it. The best intern experiences were driven by interns who asked for the experiences they were hoping to have. Quicken tries its best to make it happen

Marketing intern

June - August 2017 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

I loved the work environment and innovaive culture the company had. Even as an intern, you still have large responsibilities and opportunities. They believe there is no hierarchy, but rather teams with leaders.

What I wish was different

I wish the process of getting hired was quicker. It took 6 weeks to get back to me about whether I got the internship or not, so I started late.

Advice

My advice would be to take advantage of any opportunity you have at your company. Odds are, you'll probably meet a lot of different kinds of people, so make connections and network as much as possible.

Mortgage Banking Intern

May - August 2017 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

The autonomy . The culture was great, but it is not for everyone.

What I wish was different

I wish there would have been more structure. I was asked to complete very minute tasks and I was upset on a daily basis.

Mortgage Operations Summer Intern

May - September 2017 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

This was my 3rd summer at Quicken, so I love the culture. This internship particularly was great in that I grew on the phones calling agents all Summer, learning their mortgage platform, and learning about something I didn't know much about...insurance! At Quicken you also have the opportunity to get bonuses, volunteer, learn the professional world, and do things outside your internship in classes that you still get paid for! No matter the internship here, if you like a laid-back, but inclusive culture, Quicken is the best place for you.

What I wish was different

For me the 9-6 hours go too late for me, but really if you want the overtime they give to you. Also, other leaders are different and allow you to work through lunch and change up your hours. Really, it's only for a Summer, but it's not much to complain about.

Advice

Be enthusiastic and ready to try new things cause Quicken allows you to do more than push paper.

Leadership Development Intern

May - August 2016 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

Quicken Loans has a great culture and treats interns really well with multiple socials and cool events.

What I wish was different

The hourly wage was pretty low taking into consideration the drive to Downtown and the gas spent in doing so .

Advice

While I said earlier that I thought the culture was great, many other interns hate the culture as well. So go to firm presentations and be wary of the fake positivity and enthusiasm that recruiters use to really analyze if this place is where you want to be for several months/a full-time career.

Data Analyst Intern

December 2018 - August 2019 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

QL company culture is amazing. The intern events during the summer were a lot of fun and great neyworking opportunities. You can learn alot about how to work in interdependent teams.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been smaller intern opportunities during the winter/fall. The big ones in the summer are definitely fun, but with so many people there, it can be harder to get to know your coworkers if you're not an extrovert.

Advice

Be very open to doing work that doesn't align with your degree. Shadow as many folk as possible. Don't be afraid to make the ask for an extension or an opportunity on another team.

Purchase Communications Intern

May - August 2017 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

I loved being able to attend all meetings with my leader and really get an inside look at what was going on. I loved that I was encouraged to speak up at any time with any ideas or input I may have. Quicken also did a great job of giving the interns a sense of community and planned lots of intern events which was great.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to work on more projects. I enjoyed the projects I was assigned but I feel like I could have done more.

Advice

Never hesitate to ask for something to do. Don't ever let yourself be bored, speak up.

Instructional Design Intern

May - August 2018 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

During my internship, I was pushed out of my comfort zone. I was able to network and gain experience in a variety of different facets of the company.

What I wish was different

Honestly, I would not have changed anything about my experience.

Advice

For future interns, make sure that you be your own advocate. Your experience is all that you make of it so make yourself useful. Volunteer yourself for jobs or projects you wouldn't normally do. Lead team bondings, help other team members, and shadow other team members in different business areas.

Mortgage Banking Sales Development Intern

May - August 2018 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

I truly enjoyed everything about working at Quicken this summer. They have an amazing internship program where I was able to perform meaningful daily work that actually contributed to company revenue. I gained a unmeasurable amount of development of my professional and sales skills. I was able to network with high level professionals and learn from them. This internship has fully prepared me to start my career here. I truly enjoyed the amazing culture at Quicken and cannot wait to return.

What I wish was different

The internship at QL was so great that my only complaint is that I wish I had more time to do more here.

Advice

My advice would be to truly buy into the process and culture here. I tried for the first month of my internship to resist this but this is truly an amazing environment to be in that allows for major positive development both professionally and personally. Quicken Loans provides amazing training that I am so grateful for and is a place with amazing resources if you take advantage of them.

Intern

January - March 2015 • Detroit, MI

What I liked

Fun environment, they took us on tours of Detroit and different events

What I wish was different

I didn’t get a choice in what my internship focused on.

Advice

It’s so much fun and they really try to sell you the idea, they didn’t put me with a strong leader and I felt like I wasn’t making a big impact.
