I have been here for 10 years and I love it! We have a great team with excellent clinical specialists who keep us up to date on new equipment and therapies. I love being a valuable part of the team and asking questions and giving suggestions during rounds. The pulmonary docs are the best and they value our contributions. Everyday I learn something new and continue to grow!

Advice
Sentara is always striving for 5 stars, they provide education, committees and volunteer opportunities. You can be as involved as you want to be. Take advantage of the free programs like tuition reimbursement. I am finishing my degree at Mizzou for free while also completing my internship here!

What I liked
I appreciated the exposure and inclusivity I received in this role as an administrative intern. I was given the opportunity to participate in meetings and strategic planning opportunities that gave me an affirmation as to what I want to pursue post-graduate opportunities. All of my supervisors also helped me with professional development skills and worked with me on improving my resume.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had more opportunities to do solo work, however, I understand why it might be difficult to assign administrative/executive tasks to an intern.
Advice
This internship taught me a lot about networking and using my connections to create opportunities for myself.

What I liked
I was assigned to the Cardiac Surgical ICU at Norfolk General's Heart Hospital. I loved working with the RN's and being in the ICU setting.
What I wish was different
I wish that I could've stayed working there throughout the school year.

If you're in the nursing program and live near Norfolk definitely apply.
