Sentinel Group

Summer Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I liked experiencing working in New York City for the first time. I feel like everyone should try working in the city to see if they like it or not because there are many opportunities in the city and a-lot of networking opportunities. I met with many different people and firms where i learned a-lot from.I supported advisors during field travel by keeping meeting minutes and updating client relationship manager system. I also managed records for centers of influence of sales leads; led to $10K in revenue before the end of summer, using Sentinels record keeping system. I conducted investment research by attending meeting investment company consultants, live phone calls with portfolio managers and economists, and working with Financial Advisors to apply investment thesis to client portfolios. Also built leads database for sales campaigns by qualifying prospects with at least $100K in assets and max out campaign.

What I wish was different

I wish the commute was less difficult. At least once a week there was a problem with the transportation that caused trains to arrive late or be cancelled, leaving my commute to be much less easier and enjoyable than it should have been.

Advice

Since i worked with financial advisors who managed retirement plans, i learned what to do for my own retirement plan one day and what to invest in. I think its never to early to know these things and plan for your future. My advice about my experience is to always have an open mind and ask a-lot of questions. I asked a-lot of questions therefor i learned more because of this.
