What I liked

As a rising senior at UMass Amherst and a recent hire at Serur Agencies, I have unique insight at the job and training process. I’ve been training full time for 3 weeks and I’m slated to get released this week. The entire recruiting process, whether it be support from trainers or encouragement from full time employees, has been nothing short of fantastic. Expectations are very clear and concise. Serur Agencies caught my eye early on in the interview process due to the expedited leadership opportunities and upward mobility. This job is for those who genuinely enjoy the grind and I look forward to getting to work. Footnote: due to Covid this job can be done virtually. I’m looking into working abroad to lower my living expenses while keeping the same income.

What I wish was different

I started in July. I genuinely wish I started back in May.

Advice

You need to trust the process. As cliché as that may seem, following the process will reap benefits.

Manager

March 2019 • Attleboro, MA

What I liked

I've worked at Serur Agencies for Almost 3 years, and I am so grateful I was hired. The culture is so positive, nurturing, and everyone is literally there to help each other grow into the best version of themselves. The company from the top down truly cares about your career and your success. The managers are constantly helping everyone grow not only with the business but on a personal level. They have conversations about what motivates you to help you achieve your goals and then mapping them out with you. One of the best things about the business is that you can call on anyone in the company from a regional manager to the newest hire on any team and you guys can work on something that you’re struggling with. With Covid the ability now to work remotely from anywhere has been a huge asset for myself and everyone in our company.

What I wish was different

I wish when I first started I had known the opportunity presented to me. I have changed my family’s life 3 years into the business but I could have also done it when I started by following the right steps.

Advice

With everything there needs to be effort put in, you have to do more than just show up. The job doesn't come easy for everyone but is proven anyone can do it with the right attitude. It takes time to be able to understand everything with the job but with the right effort you’ll be able to have huge success.

What I liked

As a full-time student who will be living on campus this upcoming semester, one of the greatest parts of working with AIL is being able to work from home while still maintaining a close connection with my coworkers despite being completely virtual. Working from home allows me to work around my own schedule while I have classes, exams, and any extracurriculars. My training process began during my second semester of my junior year, and while it wasn't too easy to balance both at once when I first began, the flexible schedule allowed me to work on my own time. During my month-long training, I was able to work closely with a manager; this is where I was able to pick up the majority of my knowledge about our Life Insurance products. My training manager helped me to strongly develop my skills calling clients and presenting to them. When I completed my training, I was afraid I wasn't going to have the same help that I had before, but I was completely wrong. I quickly learned that not only did I have the support of my manager, but literally everybody else on the team. Everyone was, and still is, there to give me all the support and feedback that I need.

What I wish was different

I wish we had days where we could actually work together in person. Although I love working from home and being virtual, I think one thing I do miss out on is seeing my coworkers in person (in a work setting outside of coworker outings). With COVID though, it's not easy to get everyone together.

Advice

Just like everything else, you have to put in the work to succeed. This job doesn't come easy for everyone. It takes a lot of time and practice to be good at what you do, and I strongly believe that great effort is necessary in this field.

What I liked

From the very first interview and throughout the recruiting and training process, everyone has been extremely supportive and friendly. My trainer and manager, Rosa, has been awesome and a great mentor along the way! Parts of the training process can be overwhelming with the amounts of information, but the support has been so great and the team has really helped to build my confidence. This is the first place I have worked in a long time where everyone wants to see everyone else succeed, and are willing to lend a hand to help out the entire team. There are lots of great opportunities to get into management and most, if not all of the promoting is done from within! I really like the flexibility of the schedule and being able to work virtually.

What I wish was different

I wish I had quit my previous job sooner so I could devote more time to getting released.

Advice

Trust the process, have a lot of notebooks ready to write everything down, come with determination, and be ready to work!
