The internship program is an intense 8-10 week program. Over the course of the internship, I was exposed to all aspects of Shaw's business. Shaw's approach to learning is "hands on" and working from the ground up. Through the internship program, I was introduced to the corporate culture as well as field experience where I gained credibility and learned extensive product knowledge in a short period of time. I got to work in the sales programs. The internship was paid and did involve traveling.

I would not change a thing!!

More chemical process involvement. It is very easy to get sucked into a high priority assignment and lose the ability to explore other areas.
Advice
Explore any, and all, opportunities no matter how abstract. Knowing what you don’t want to do is just as important as knowing what you want to do.

I would have liked having more time to complete big projects and be able to see the results.

Communication is key. Build relationships with the people around you and don’t be afraid to ask question that may seem dumb to you.

What I liked
I enjoyed the opportunity to apply in-classroom concepts and apply them in a real-life scenario. I was able to learn about optimization of complex systems and demonstrate engineering concepts through my projects. Most importantly, I had mentors and senior engineers to orient me in the correct direction. I enjoyed learning the role of an Industrial Engineer through a phenomenal learning experience.
What I wish was different
I desire the summer term to be longer to expand my projects more in depth.
Advice
Go out of your way to always demonstrate your best work through all you do. Absorb as much knowledge through your experience because it is not always written in a textbook.
