The Lone Star UAS Center of Excellence & Innovation (LSUASC) was chosen as one of seven Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) UAS test sites in the United States. LSUASC is a global partnership for research, development, testing and evaluation of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) technologies led by educational institutions Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) and Texas Engineering Experiment Station. LSUASC main offices are located at TAMUCC and fall under the direction of the Research & Innovation office on campus.
Our mission is to operate for the benefit of advancement and use of unmanned technologies, specifically UAS technologies across state agency interests; to provide an economic stimulus to attract industry to Texas, while being compliant to the Texas Privacy Act; and to provide the FAA with UAS research, development and operational data to assist in the development of procedures, standards, and regulations to facilitate UAS civil operations into the National Airspace System.
