The Miriam Hospital's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

About The Miriam Hospital's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

The Miriam Hospital's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation provides patient centered Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation programs. A collaborative team provides a multidisciplinary approach to recovering from a cardiovascular or respiratory event and secondary prevention.

Seize the opportunity to intern at the only Dean Ornish Intensive Cardiac Rehabilitation program in all of New England. We work hand in hand with participants to assist them in adopting a low fat whole food plant based nutrition plan to treat and reverse their heart disease.
Bring your creativity to the table - bridge the gap between teaching nutritional guidelines and the hands on implementation of these recommendations. Teach participant what to shop for and how to prepare healthy healing meals, through in person cooking demonstrations , grocery shopping tours and food label reading lessons. Provide recipe development and revisions for meeting dietary guidelines; whether its grandmother’s famous apple pie to tofu stir fry, we welcome your twist on an old favorite or a brand new flavor profile.

Working side by side with Registered Dietitian, Ornish Certified Chef, Registered Nurses, Exercise Physiologist, Behavioral Psychologist and Stress Management specialists to create an individualized treatment plan for each participant.

Nutrition intern

“I was able to gain experience in multiple ways because each day of the week would be different. I got to work with the dietitian for 1:1 appointments, plan and execute cooking demonstrations, give nutrition education presentations, and work with different groups of patients ( cardiac, pulmonary, diabetes) ”
