Community Management

May - July 2019 • Delray Beach, FL

What I liked

The pay was great, I worked in the pharmacy as if I were a pharmacy technician, I assisted in putting away the truck orders and now I have a sales role added to my list of accomplishments.

What I wish was different

I wish they would have hired all the interns after the position ended to continue working as assistant store managers in training but they didnt because no intern had recieved their bachelors degree yet.

Advice

Its a great experience that involved a lot of traveling and a group project at the very end.

Software Engineering Intern

June - August 2019 • Deerfield, IL

What I liked

Got to do same work as the rest of my team, great experience of what it would be like as a full-time employee. All the people were incredibly friendly and helpful, and it was nice having a large group of interns to have lunch and hangout with. Working from home was also a great benefit as someone with a long commute.

What I wish was different

The company wide case study all interns do does not feel at all helpful for the software interns; everyone else seemed to take it more seriously because it was more applicable to their majors, but it felt like a waste of time for the software interns to work on it. Also, it wasn't ideal that the company wasn't in a position to be hiring any of the interns for full-time positions, I would have loved to work there.

Management Intern

March - July 2019 • O'Fallon, MO

What I liked

I liked that I was gaining hands on experience. I has been learning so much in the classroom and I was finally able to put these theories into practice. The program trains interns for ten weeks to be a manager. I walked away with so much experience and knowledge that makes my classes easier because I have first hand examples.

What I wish was different

It would have been more beneficial if the positions they were offering after graduate required a degree. It seemed very backwards to require interns to be working on a degree but then offer interns positions that anyone without a college education can apply for.

Advice

I would say if you’re going into this position, go in with an open mind. Being in a retail store can sometimes be looked down on for an internship but I loved it. It was a very low stress position with low expectations of you until you are fully trained in all aspects. Make the most of the position because it offers a great learning environment.

Customer Associate

July 2019 • Brooklyn Park, MN

What I liked

I liked meeting a variety of people and learning how a store operates behind the scenes. Learning how to products are organized and having several interpersonal interactions helped me learn to how better communicate with others.

What I wish was different

I think that the organization of the business needs some work. When I got there, there was a shift in managerial staff, so they had a lot of issues adjusting.

Advice

I would say that this job teaches you patience and humility in a way that is hard to learn elsewhere.

Certified Senior Pharmacy Technician

September 2015 • Franklin, NJ

What I liked

I love the pharmacy and being able to learn about all the different types of drugs and also helping patients. it also helps immensely with my social anxieties and being around co-workers and patients for the day. I love working with all of my co-workers.

What I wish was different

I wish that there was more room to move up in position, unfortunately a Certified Senior Tech is the highest i can achieve in the pharmacy without being an actual Pharmacist.

Advice

it takes a lot of work and patience to be able to work with difficult patients as well as working under pressure of having to fill things in a timely matter, know how to type prescriptions, look up patient info, being able to answer questions, deal with doctor's offices and insurance companies. It takes a lot of practice and learning to do it efficently and effecetively.

Advice

Students, especially in high school, should look into getting a pharmacy tech certification because it's a great paying job while going through college. It gives you experience to talk with other professionals in the health care field like doctors, nurses, insurance companies, etc. You also get a lot of experience with communicating with patients and working in a fast paced environment.
