WeAdmit Technologies, Inc.

College Coach

May 2021 • Hanover, NH

What I liked

This company is doing great things for high schools students looking to get the most out of their college experience and making sure everything is done to ensure the students go about the college application process smoothly. They are always updating the platform to make it easier for all involved (students, employees, parents).

What I wish was different

Wish this could be in person, but the online platform makes it easier and more accessible for everyone

Advice

This experience is great and helps you with your personal development and people skills.

College Coach

What I liked

I love the flexibility and opportunity that WeAdmit offers. As a start-up there's so much that even college coaches can be involved with to help leverage the company and better assist students in their college applications strategy. It's incredibly rewarding to have a job where you can see the immediate impact of your role on others and have the ability to set your own schedule.

What I wish was different

In all honesty, there's not much I would change. If anything, I would want to get to know more people in the company, since a lot of the work you do as a college coach is independent, apart from collaborating with the head counselor.

Advice

Be sure to know your schedule and always ask questions when you have them. As a start-up, I am always pleasantly surprised by the level of organization and internal communication that WeAdmit has, but of course, there are procedures that are constantly changing. Know to set boundaries on your time, particularly as a student, and always reach out if you aren't sure of an answer to a client's question-- there are so many wonderful resources!

What I liked

I've been working at WeAdmit for the past three years and have been fortunate enough to contribute to vastly different areas of the company. The leadership team is young, motivated, innovative, and willing to put the work in. The product and the team really are the best in the game. The super flexible hours are great, especially as a College Coach but also in my sales and marketing positions.

What I wish was different

Advice

As a college coach, I found that the better I got to know my students and the closet our relationship was, the more effective and enjoyable the work became. More generally, WeAdmit values efficiency a lot - if you have an idea that would make your life easier, make it known!

College Coach

March 2021 • Providence, RI

What I liked

I love the flexible hours of this position. I only work when I have time to do so, and it's very manageable with a full course load. I also really enjoy the connections I get to form with current high school students on the road to applying to colleges! You get to know them very well and are able to be genuinely happy for the successes they have!

What I wish was different

Advice

I recommend really delving deeply into the lives of your students. Take notes on things they say, follow up on their goals. It can be a lot of work to stay on top of them, but you're helping keep your students accountable, as well as being a better coach for them!
