Communication and Outreach Intern

May - August 2018 • Boise, ID

What I liked

I enjoyed the work I was doing. My projects were meaningful and were utilized by all staff members. This made me feel worthy as an intern , and that my time was not being wasted. No coffee runs for me!

What I wish was different

I wish my internship was less independent. Most of my time was spent alone; no collaboration with other interns or supervision from staff members. While this was nice at times, I wish that more of my time could have been spent with others in the office.

Advice

One piece of advise that I would share would be to ask your supervisors questions about their careers, especially if its one you're interested in some day pursuing! I learned a lot from my supervisors simply by asking them questions like how they started on that career path, what they liked about it, etc. This internship paired me with a staff that was extremely qualified and talented, so I feel lucky to have had the time to ask them about their experiences.
