About Active Minds

Active Minds is the nation’s leading nonprofit organization changing the culture around mental health. Through our presence at more than 1,000 high school and college campuses, in corporate settings, and with a wide-reaching public audience, Active Minds is creating communities of support and saving lives. Founded in 2003 by Alison Malmon after the tragic suicide of her brother Brian, Active Minds is dedicated to supporting a new generation in ending the silence, helping to make mental health as highly valued as physical health. Through our many programs – including the emotionally gripping Send Silence Packing® traveling exhibit and our compelling Active Minds Speakers – we are changing culture and behaviors related to mental health across the country.

Reviews

Development Operations Intern

January 2024 - April 2024 Washington, DC
“I liked how this organization treats its interns. It wants the best for the interns and tries to help us learn everything that can benefit us. I also liked their open-door policy, even though it is a remote position. ”

Chapters Team Intern

June 2019 - August 2019 Washington, DC
“The team was wonderful. All of my colleagues (full-time staff members and my fellow interns) were funny, helpful, and encouraging. Because of the size of the organization and their funding, the CEO said they typically do not give return offers, but to make up for that, all the staff is willing to help you in your professional life to the best of their ability. In addition, it was my first internship so it's interesting to see how an organization/non-profit operates. It was also interesting to see how the National office operates as someone who knows how an AM chapter is like”
