I enjoyed working in an office staffed overwhelmingly by black people and other POC, including at management level. I also loved being about to work directly with staff on issues I care about like school policing and voter rights restoration.
What I wish was different
I wish that management had been more organized and communicative -- there were occasions where deadlines were pushed back or forward without our knowledge, and we were expected to complete an unreasonable amount of work in a very short period of time.
Advice
I would encourage applicants of color who want to work in a law firm/non-profit setting staffed predominantly by POC to apply! The work is engaging and deals with social issues that disproportionately affect POC like voting rights, immigration, school policing, and more.
