What I liked

This was my first internship and first job that I felt helped me understand what I wanted in a job. I worked for the health insurance company, but another part of the company was a law firm that dealt with social security. Being close to this environment, especially with my eye on law was useful.

What I wish was different

I wish that the company dealt with different types of law. I was surrounded by health insurance and social security, which made me aware that I was not interested in that type of law, but rather law that deals with more global affairs. I also wish I was more immersed into the community when I worked there.

Advice

This job gave me experience, which I think is extremely valuable. I may not be interested in this type of law/work, but I would have never known that if I had not applied and followed through with the job. This is what internships are for, to ensure that you are making the best choice for your future career. That is why I think it is important to try several internships to understand yourself better and what direction you want to head in next.
