Agropur

Engineering Intern

May - August 2023 • Appleton, WI

What I liked

- Schedule flexibility - Friendliness of mentors and co-workers - Important/significant role later in internship - Excellent learning experience

What I wish was different

- Less important/significant work for the first month - Poor communication at times

Advice

In terms of your internship experience, you get out what you put in.

Quality Assurance Intern

May - August 2022 • Le Sueur, MN

What I liked

I enjoyed spending lots of time in the lab working with lab equipment. I worked on projects in which I generated data, and it was rewarding to be able to write project reports on the data I collected through testing.

What I wish was different

I wish I would’ve had more time/capability to complete more of the projects that were on my intern itinerary.

Advice

I would highly recommend taking the opportunity to shadow as much as possible during an internship and to ask different people what they like/dislike about what they do.

Quality Assurance Intern

May - August 2021 • Lake Norden, SD

What I liked

Ability to work on a project with another intern and gain an understanding of all plant operations including milk intake, vat deck, and operators on the whey side.

What I wish was different

There was a significant staffing shortage in the QA department while I was there, which was emphasized by a lack in communication from my direct supervisor to create some frustrating situations.

Advice

Be willing to take on any project, because it just might turn out to be your favorite!

Research and Development Intern

May - August 2019 • Lake Norden, SD

What I liked

I liked the people that I worked with including the other interns and my superiors. The company gives you meaningful work instead of "typical intern tasks." I was allowed to work on my projects on my own time without having to constantly have someone looking over my shoulder. Agropur actually follows there core values and makes the experience well worth it.

What I wish was different

Honestly, nothing! This internship was a great experience where I learned so much and got to work with great people doing something that I enjoyed. Agropur is a great company and has very good internship program- I even accepted an internship with them for a second summer in a different location.

Advice

You get as much out of this internship as you put in! Ask lots of questions if you don't understand something or if you are just curious about why something works the way it does! You are never being a bother. Form relationships with the people you meet as you never know what encounters you may have with them down the road.

Future Leader/ Graduate program

May 2018 • Weyauwega, WI

What I liked

The laid back but first hand experience on the floor, training to be a supervisor.

What I wish was different

Jobs and projects were constant but the way the plant ran I was teamed up with the current supervisor and only had one or two opportunities to lead and give direction to the operators.

Advice

It is an extremely good place/program to start your career with a decent transition from college to a plant supervisor/lead.
