What I liked

I loved being able to help people through repairing homes that were affected by the tornado while also being a mentor for the kids that came through every week. I also grew stronger in my faith

What I wish was different

I wish that ARM was a bit more structured. They had to deviate from what they're use to doing due to the fact that it was one of their first times focusing on disaster reilef rather than standard home repair.

Advice

If you're thinking about doing an internship where you want to help people, I strongly encourage doing this internship. It provides you leadership skills while also focusing on things like public speaking/ interactions with families, adult leaders, and kids.

Construction Coordinator Intern

What I liked

I enjoyed the day to day work of managing my construction site, as well as the planning that went into each day. It was really great to be the head of a site. I also really liked getting to manage the work done.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have prepared for the hours, it was really fun to be both a project manager and a youth camp leader but it requires lots of discipline.

Advice

Its an awesome experience, and most of the success that you will have will come from being mentally present, and setting yourself up for success by creating structures and systems that lead to success. ( A rest period, a weekly schedule, a method of organization etc.)
