I loved learning about all the plant species, issues with invasive plants in the parkway, and how mapping technology is used. The guest speakers were wonderful sources of information on private entities and job opportunities. The river cleanup was a lot of fun!
What I wish was different
I would have liked to go on more mapping trips and worked with the technology a bit more. We were focused on the manual plant removal but I would have liked to learn more about the herbicide use and all the red tape associated with it.
Advice
This is for people who feel intrinsic reward from doing good for the community and/or parkway. We made a huge difference this summer but it is not easy work and the public can be disappointing and thankless.
