Planning Systems Engineer
March - December 2021 • Pewaukee, WI
What I liked
I enjoyed flexible hours and working on a professional team. I learned many different skills and engineering topics that MSOE does not cover.
What I wish was different
Would be nice to work in the office to get the office setting, but ATC did a good job of having online work.
Advice
Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid to ask for help when needed.

Transmission Planning Intern
May - August 2018 • Pewaukee, WI
What I liked
Really nice offices, good corporate culture, lots of activities. Interesting work helping to maintain ATC's part of the power grid. Lots of intern-specific programs. Really made me feel like a part of the team while I was there.
What I wish was different
There were times when I felt bored by what I was doing, and when I felt like I was just turning a crank. A lot of work in Excel coordinating databases.
Advice
Talk to everyone about everything. I learned the most when I was asking questions, and while you shouldn't bother people unnecessarily, more often then not they were happy to help.

May - August 2018 • Pewaukee, WI
What I liked
This was a great place to work. They take care of their employees and interns. Everyone was very helpful
What I wish was different
The person I reported to worked at a different office and was only in my office once or twice a week but was not a big deal as other people in the group gave me projects and answered any questions
Advice
The utility industry is very interesting and most people don't know much about it even though we use their products every day.

Transmission Line Service Intern
June - August 2018 • De Pere, WI
What I liked
I enjoyed working in the power utility industry and gaining technical skills to use in the future. I enjoyed how much ATC was willing to teach me about the industry. Though I only worked in one department, I still was able to interact with interns from other sectors of the company and see how their experience was different from mine.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have spent more time networking.
Advice
Focus on meeting new people, making lasting connections, and learning new skills. Those are the things that will stick with you throughout your career.
