Arrow Electronics, Inc.

Accounting Intern

June - August 2021 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Lots of real experience. Got to help with different schedules, reconciliations, and journal entries.

What I wish was different

In-person rather than remote would have made everything so much easier, but COVID is something that we have to workaround.

Advice

Have fun, talk to your manager a lot and try to meet other interns!

Electrical Engineering Intern

May - August 2020 • Denver, CO

What I liked

Arrow has an incredibly diverse skill set to learn from, if you can get there.

What I wish was different

Arrow canceled our internships the week before the start date, after getting 3 messages from organizers that internships would not be affected due to COVID. The following year, they canceled the engineering internships AGAIN, even after telling those canceled in 2020 that they would be guaranteed a spot in the 2021 cohort. A technology company should be able to figure out how to do a decent intern program, even a remote one. As a 28 billion dollar company, they should have had the foresight to see how COVID would have affected them.

Advice

Don't settle housing contracts before attending internships in Colorado at the very least. If you can, intern elsewhere.

Supplier Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

There was a community feel with all the other interns. I met many friends. VPs and executives were very willing to meet with us and have informational interviews. The ongoing project throughout the whole summer was the best part though, very hands on and exciting!

What I wish was different

My day to day tasks were a bit repetitive.

Advice

Immerse yourself in the intern project. You will meet a ton of people (fellow interns and full time employees) and get some cool experience.

Internal Sales Representative Intern

June - August 2019 • Englewood, CO

What I liked

I enjoyed the various intern activities that Arrow provided. The interns had great social events with each other and executives at the company that created a very unique experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I had a different manager. He was not very prepared for an intern. As a result, I ended up getting most of my work from a division I did not report to.

Advice

Your first internship will not go as expected. There is nothing wrong with that. It is a part of life. You should use this as an opportunity to respond to adversity.

IoT Supplier Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Denver, CO

What I liked

It was a great experience! The university relations team puts on many events throughout the summer to network with other interns and executives at barbecues, arcades and baseball games. I worked on real projects and was able to contribute during meetings. There is also a case competition where all interns work to solve a business problem for Arrow. I would highly recommend this internship program.

Inside Sales Representitive

May - August 2019 • Bloomington, MN

What I liked

They flew all the interns from around the country to their HQ in Denver for a Case Study Competition that we were working on throughout the summer. The first time we were in Denver in June, was to meet our team and learn what the case study was. The second time we were in Denver was to present our case study projects to a panel of judges.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have gotten more hands on experience. I wasn't always given a lot of work to do as the department I was working in was mostly sales support. I did work on modifying and updating 3 daily reports that I sent to my team. I also was able to work with the renewals section of my team to help them find order numbers, other important information, as well as book a few orders.

Advice

Make sure to ask for things to do. Ask for project to work on and ask to learn new things. Everyone is more than willing to work with you and help you, but you have to take the initiative and remind them that you are an intern and are there to learn and help them.
