Asia Tech Source

Quality Assurance Engineer Intern

June - August 2019 • Changzhou, Jiangsu

What I liked

I have enjoyed this internship as I learned a lot from a variety of tasks that I have done here. From engineering to human resources, this internship provided a wide range of learning opportunities for me. Although it was a little challenging to blend in the environment here since I was unfamiliar with the company culture and I was completely new to this industry, I kept self-studying about the organizational chart and reading about the company’s developmental history. The challenges I had here helped me jump out of my comfort zone and become a better learner. I have also been inspired by how dedicated my coworkers are as time went by.

What I wish was different

The factory itself was different than I expected, so perhaps more prior information about the site would help for new interns.

Advice

Throughout these eight weeks, I have attempted to challenge my comfort zone and to bravely learn from the people and the assignments that I was not familiar with. I have practiced my learning ability, teamwork, communication, and time management skills; applied my transferable skills to my daily work; learned how to efficiently solve technical problems, and how to manage and react to negative emotions such as anxiety, self-doubt, and lack of motivation.

Intern

May - July 2018 • Shanghai, China

What I liked

The best part of this internship was that I was able to visit the local factories in China, which manufactured various hand tools. I got a chance to experience the origin of "Made-in-China", talk to the manufactures, and learn from employees of Asia Tech Source.

What I wish was different

My internship was in Kunshan city, which is right adjacent to Shanghai. Although getting to Shanghai was convenient, I wish I was living in a bigger city for more accessible local opportunities.

Advice

I would strongly recommend strong interest and/or experience with the Chinese language and culture.
