ATL Technology

Engineering

April 2019 • Dongguan, Guangdong

What I liked

Living in China and the deep dive into a few manufacturing projects/assembly lines.

What I wish was different

Quicker start. It took a while of being there to really get involved in good projects.

Advice

Take full advantage of learning Chinese manufacturing vocabulary and learning about how factories work there.

What I liked

It was a great summer job. It gave me great hours and I was also given the option to work overtime and get paid time and half. The people I worked with were great, and it was a fun environment to be in. I was only their for the summer, but was sad to leave once the semester started up again. Its a pretty big company, but I felt that every employee mattered.

What I wish was different

I don't really wish anything was different. The people were great to work with, and if I ever needed time off they would work with me. I would always just try to be on top and give as much noticed as I could.

Advice

At times, depending on the projects it could be a little tedious. Overall, however the days always went by fast, and you were always given breaks and lunches.

Manufacturing Engineering Intern

May - June 2019 • Dongguan, Guangdong

What I liked

I enjoyed being able to work with Chinese engineers on a process improvement project! Being able to see first hand how products are manufactured in China was an awesome experience, and I learned a lot. Also being able to travel and learn more about Chinese culture was a lot of fun.

What I wish was different

The language barrier was difficult, so I wish I had known at least some common phrases before I got there.

Advice

Expect that it will be hard, but you will get so much out of it if you put in the effort.
