This job is super flexible with your school schedule and other job schedules. The shifts are usually 4 hours or less so it's not tiring. You are also allowed to do your homework if you aren't assisting patrons.
What I wish was different
I wish the morning shifts were a bit shorter so they were easier to fit into my schedule.
Advice
Just communicate with your boss and everything will work out.

operation cordinator
May - August 2021 • Azusa, CA
What I liked
I enjoyed working with such a great team, who communicate and desire organization. The work we do is extremely helpful to the student/alum body which makes you feel like you are making a difference even with small projects. The goal of the department is clear and steadily progressing.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more full team meetings so we can be all on the same page at once, and so we can pitch projects or improvements.
Advice
I would suggest that if you see a gap somewhere, always be willing to suggest a project that could help fill that gap because your supervisors are always willing to support you and your vision.

Orientation Leader
May 2018 • Azusa, CA
What I liked
I was able to assist prospective students and their families, by giving them a tour of the school, assist in class registration, and answer any questions they had regarding majors, programs, and student life.
What I wish was different
More orientation days, better organization, although it was much better after our first summer orientation.
Advice
Be open to share your experience as a person, and your journey as a student. Prospective students and families will ask about all the joys and difficulties of being a student so be open and prepared to share those experiences.

Donor Relations Assistant

What I liked
I love the work I get to do with writing and creating copy for our various thank you cards and letters that our office outputs to donors and faculty
What I wish was different
I wish I was given more responsibilities and projects to take on...with the amount of hours that I work I sometimes feel as though I have a lot of down time where I could be helping elsewhere
Advice
I would say to take on big tasks with confidence, and to stand tall in your place of work regardless of what your title is, because there is always a seat for you at the table, but no on is going to make you sit down.
