What I liked

Working at Baker Tilly as a summer intern was an unforgettable experience. Not only did I feel consistently welcomed and respected by my coworkers at the office, but I also gained additional knowledge in the tax world. I would highly recommend this internship to anyone as it is great experience to get OUTSIDE reading books/taking accounting classes at school. The entire process was simple and straight forward. The firm does give you the option to work remote, but I highly recommend coming in person to meet people, see their beautiful location, and understand material better. I also can't forget the many many benefits the firm offered us along the way such as welcoming packages, treats sent to our house, any choice of glasses from Ray Bans, a sign up bonus, and many free office lunches!

What I wish was different

The only thing I can think of would have been the training. It was a full two weeks and I personally feel that it could have been shortened.

Advice

Take the opportunity if you are ever offered! And PLEASE work in person! Best tax experience I have had yet.

Auditing Intern

What I liked

I loved how my company was invested in my learning and growth. They micromanaged my learning so I would have the skills to succeed, but also balanced it with freedom when projects had multiple ways to undertake them. It really kept me excited for my future career! I was also granted a coach that met with me every week to talk another anything, job related or not. Made me feel included in the company culture.

What I wish was different

I wish I got to see more of the higher level processes in my career. I got a full picture of what a new employee straight out of college would be doing, but what about my superiors? It's not a bad thing, as time is a resource, but something that would serve as an additive in my career development.

Advice

I would say just be yourself, so you can click with company culture. And likewise, if you don't fit, being yourself will let you know. It's a check and balance for yourself.
