I like the ability to work with patients and gain comfort and familiarity in the healthcare setting. Being able to assist with procedures or perform activities within my scope of practice helps make me ready to be a registered nurse.
What I wish was different
I wish there was more time to float around with different nurses and assist with procedures instead of performing more CNA duties.
Advice
It's flexible with your schedule and it's totally worth doing if you're seeking employment as a nurse.

Summer Intern
June - August 2019 • Plano, TX
What I liked
I loved that i got to work alongside nurses and patient care techs. They allowed me to gain some patient care experience. They also explained the care plan process and allowed me to be a part of patient care.
What I wish was different
I wish that i would have been allowed to do more. I also wish that the internship last longer that way we can get a solid understanding of the field or department we were placed with.
Advice
I would say, do your research. This is a top hospital system. I was quizzed by nurses. I was put to the test almost everyday of my internship. I worked hard and long hours. In the end i gained so much experience and most importantly confidence. Treat it as your first job in the field and you will go far with any company.

Clinical Researcher
June - August 2018 • Woodway, TX
What I liked
This position gave me a lot of freedom to be creative through designing my own research project and seeking out ways to improve hospital processes in a short amount of time, with access to most of the hospital's facilities.
What I wish was different
There were roadblocks because I was unfamiliar with clinical research itself, so my project felt immature until I was able to get better feedback from my research preceptor.
Advice
Hit the ground running and don't hesitate if you come up with a good plan!
