Digital Marketing Research Intern

What I liked

I loved the company culture. There was a lot of open communication and comfort in having a fun but professional balance in the workplace. The analyst who trained me did a fantastic job in teaching me, making sure to be thorough, patient, and answer any and all questions. I did not feel overwhelmed at all.

What I wish was different

If this internship was paid, it would have been great, but the work experience and BBC culture experience spoke for themselves.

Advice

I would advise to keep an open mind. When I applied for this role, I was unsure if my background was the "perfect fit" since I had never used any of the systems/programs BBC uses that were listed on the job posting. However, the team was SO welcoming and patient in fully guiding me until I felt like a pro at my job (crosstabs, digital campaign tracking, using third party research databases, making sales decks, etc.).

Licensing Intern

What I liked

I love how open everyone was to the many questions I had. My advisor frequently helped me network with employees across all departments so I could get a better sense of how BBC works and all the components that go into creating a worldwide, successful business.

What I wish was different

I wish I was more involved in large-scale projects. I was given very menial projects that I felt was given to me to just "pass the time".

Advice

I would say to be open-minded when it comes to internships. I never expected to be called back by BBC for a position in licensing, since I don't have much experience in that area. I went in with an open mind and learned so much!
