BestLogic Staffing

Business Administration Intern

January 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

The B.A. internship at BestLogic Staffing is really personable, approachable, and realistic. Many times students are over-psych to perform at their peak which is not needed to do well in this internship. You get what you put in. If you're putting out minimal effort on projects assigned, then you will miss the overall picture. Each assignment/projects given have an overall impact to the business and sub-departments. In a internship, you want to feel like your work is heard and acknowledged, which is exactly what BestLogic Staffing does a phenomenal job of. You are not thrown in the dark, you will always have available help in whatever process you're in. The manager, Aldin, acknowledges that building team chemistry is the best way to have efficiency in business.

What I wish was different

I feel like there should be more projects related with collaboration with other interns. It gives a sense of identity to a "graduating class" at BLS.

Advice

Don't be discouraged in the first few weeks of the internship, they're meant to transition you to feel comfortable with their team.

Marketing Intern

June - August 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

Working at BestLogic Staffing was a great learning experience. I was given the opportunity to develop social media content for the company with my own creative thinking. It was a great way to get my feet wet in the Marketing industry and learn about business first hand.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to work in the office for this internship. I chose to work remote due to my other work schedule, enabling me to work both jobs. But that was a decision I made, BestLogic Staffing offered the option to work from home or in the office.

Advice

You're going to get out what you put in. If you give a lousy effort, you won't benefit as much from the experience. But, if you put in your best effort it will be a well worth experience.

What I liked

I enjoyed the quick and thorough feedback on my writing, and the staff's relationships with each other. BLS is a very welcoming environment. I was able to work remotely but still got a lot out of my experience here.

What I wish was different

All I can think of is a better way to log attendance, but I understand it's difficult when there is a mix of in-person and remote interns. I hope they have a writing department in the future!

Advice

The more you reach out, the more communication you will get in return. It's so important to ask for feedback, especially when working remotely.

Videography Intern

June - August 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

Everyone is very inviting and comes from different backgrounds, the program gives you the tools and equipment for success and it's up to you to let your creative mind take advantage of it(with office restrictions of course). Even though it is a small company with limited space, everyone does their best with what they are given and I take that as an opportunity to see how much I can push my creativity. The program also taught me the importance of planning, I was never sure where to start when it comes to planning a video shoot but after working here I'm leaving with a new perspective that I can take advantage of in my way.

What I wish was different

There was nothing significant that I saw as a problem but I feel like working with other programs would have been beneficial for every department, for example, if I were to work with the marketing department to get a sense of how to advertise for companies and the marketing department learns from us on how to make their creative process and how to target their audience through videography. I often sat next to other interns in the office who were in different departments and used them for my projects but I feel like I wasn't much help to theirs.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, whether it be Dev or any other member of Bestlogic Staffing. They all know what they are doing and are easy to talk to.

Social Media Intern

June - August 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

The staff is extremely helpful and dedicated to helping you grow. They understood that we were learning so they gave constructive feedback and were patient with mistakes we made. Dev, the internship coordinator, gave us a lot of freedom to experiment and use our creativity. The program was very hands on and helped me to learn a lot.

What I wish was different

I only had two issues with this program. One was it being unpaid. It's pretty hard as a college student to work for free when finances are so tight. I ended up having to get a second job. This led me to not having any days off at all pretty much the whole summer. This made me feel burnt out. The only other issue I had, which was out of their control, was the location of the other interns. I was the only one from my team that was in person. Due to me being a social media intern, this put the pressure on me to film and collect all the content from around the office. At times I felt like I was doing the majority of the work which did get stressful. Overall this was a positive experience, and I'm grateful for this opportunity.

Advice

Put in as much effort as possible and don't be afraid to try something new. This is a learning experience and you get a lot more out of the program if you leave your comfort zone and expand your skill sets.

intern

June - August 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

I liked the different variety of work the internship offered. I was able to get a lot of experience with different aspects of the business and it taught me a lot throughout the process.

What I wish was different

I personally wish there was a bit more focus towards the last few weeks but I was told from the beginning that the first half of the internship would be all about learning how things are done while the ladder half would be putting that knowledge to use. It was still a great experience all things considered.

Advice

Be prepared by spending time reading the script they give you when making calls to potential clients so that it can come out as clear and natural as possible.

Videography Intern

July 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

The people working there are very nice and friendly. It is a very good work environment, and it is easy to get work done with minimal distractions. Everyone was also very cooperative and helpful when it came to helping me with my videos, or being in them.

What I wish was different

nothing I really wanted to be different.

Advice

I'd say that videography interns should not worry too much. As long as you are getting your work done, and showing that you have an interest in creating entertaining content, then you will have a great time and accomplish everything you want to.

HR/Talent Acquisition Intern

January 2022 • Rocky Hill, CT

What I liked

I enjoyed the the work culture that has been built at BLS. It really feels like everyone is family and very supportive of each other. One good thing is that you are not micromanaged by your managers. There is a lot of independency but also teamwork at certain points. This internship is great experience for learning full cycle recruitment which is one of the main areas of HR.

What I wish was different

I wish that I got more exposure to other areas of HR. such as compensation, benefits, etc. With it being a smaller company, there isn't a direct HR department.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions, the entire purpose of the internship to learn and grow. Be eager and ready to learn as much as possible!

What I liked

Very flexible work and friendly staff! Also, employees have a great level of agency over their work. They were also very willing to let me work remotely, which made it possible for me to be employed at BLS in the first place.

What I wish was different

Nothing really, maybe an update to the website for quality of life purposes.

Advice

Always reach out to Dev, the internship coordinator, with questions. He’s a great resource to have. Also, keep a line of communication open with Aldin at all times, as he can answer any question you have about what you need to do.
