The experience overall was extremely hands on, and I was able to work with a variety of animals. All of the zookeepers that I shadowed had a different teaching styles, and a lot of experience to share.
What I wish was different
I wish that the program had lasted longer. The program was only 6 weeks, I am looking into programs that are up to 3 months long.
Advice
If you have a question, ask! It is one of the best ways to learn. This internship follows the day-day life of a zookeeper, and some of the things they do are second nature to them, so they don't always explain everything.
