I liked being able to be a part of the growth of new students coming in and being a resource for them but also being a peer mentor. I was able to become a leader and watch after 25 different residents/students, all with special needs and accommodations.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to handle confrontation better. there were moments that I felt like i was not strong enough to handle the pressure of dealing with problems that involved personal conflict or with others. Luckily I had a team that made it a lot easier and gave me that security of not feeling alone doing anything.
Advice
Talk with your fellow RA's and staff and get to know them. They are your greatest help and and they are there to help, encourage and have a good laugh.

What I liked
I enjoyed that I set my own guidelines to do my own research with the financial support of the URSCA grant.
What I wish was different
I wish I was able to continue my employment while I continued my research in Fall 2019.
Advice
I would advise others to make any professional experience a top priority because it is what will make any individual stand out among other candidates for any position.

I really enjoyed getting hands-on experience in the field I wish to pursue a career in. I learned the day-to-day tasks and expectations of ecological research.

Advice
Make sure you are making the most out of each day. It goes a lot faster than you would ever believe, and no matter how stressful, you will miss it!

I wish the IRB would have approved my research proposal faster

Get your IRB application done ahead of time and make sure it includes everything you want to do so that you don't need to make amendments

Advice
It was amazing to have the opportunity to be able to do such a criticial part of experience needed for graduate school and for the working world. It was a dream come true to be able to work in my own field, without first graduating.
