overall great experience - the company culture is amazing and they were really there to help the interns grow in our personal and professional skills

unfortunately we were completely virtual, and it would have been nice to be able to see the office at some point (but I totally understand why this couldn't happen)

Advice

Go into it with an open mind - I learned a lot more than I was expecting because I asked to be put on projects that were outside my specific job

What I liked

I loved the people at Blue Yonder! They are always so willing to connect with and hear more about your projects and goals. I also really liked that you are never doing busy work. Your projects and assignments are truly things that BY will be implementing and using in the company. This was great because I got to engage and participate in meetings with other people who have been in the company 20+ years and they always valued my ideas and opinions.

What I wish was different

I wish my internship could have been in-person, but unfortunately all Blue Yonder offices were going remote due to Covid-19. Other than that, getting to be part of Blue Yonder was great!

Advice

Ask questions, you'll learn a lot! Also, I encourage anyone who interns with Blue Yonder to take on the opportunity to set up 1-1 meetings with other BY associates in a variety of different roles. They're always happy to talk to the interns and you'll get to network with others while receiving some great advice! Also - be yourself! The best part about Blue Yonder is the people therefore they take that into consideration when you're interviewing and interning.

What I liked

JDA Software has a great summer internship program. Interns are treated as if they are a full-time associate and given the opportunity and responsibility of working on projects of their own. Not only do interns learn a lot during the summer, but they also have a lot of fun!

What I wish was different

Advice

Do an internship while you're still in school and try a role you may have not previously considered. Learn to go outside of your comfort zone!

I worked in the product development team in JDA. It was an awesome experience! Coming not knowing any front end development, my team was really helpful and supportive. I would say that if you wish to learn something new with a great learning environment, JDA would be a great place!

Overall interning at jda is a really good choice to start your career. Interns will learn all the cut edge technologies and techniques to be successful as a software developer it also opens so many doors after graduating. Highly recommend it

What I liked

I loved the work atmosphere and the team that I worked on. The atmosphere was very encouraging while remaining dedicated to quality and my team was very supportive and hands on with my training. They made sure that I was confident in my job there and were always open to taking questions from me.

What I wish was different

The only thing that I wish had been different was that it was longer, but that's because they are a great company.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would share with a future intern is to ask lots of questions and take notes especially when you're going through the technical parts of your training. Specifically when it comes to daily tasks that you will be doing. If you know how to do your job thoroughly, you can do it well.

What I liked

They had an incredible internship program and were very supportive of their interns. Each intern was set up with a manager and a team who supported them with different projects and the work I worked on was very relevant and useful to the company. I loved that I was given a lot of responsibility right off the bat and that the company really took the time to get to know everyone. I also appreciated that they flew us in and paid for rental cars and hotels for the duration of the summer.

What I wish was different

It started later so I wouldn’t have had to leave school early

Advice

START EARLY!!! the good internships get swooped up pretty early on. I lucked out with this one but be proactive early on for summer. Reach out to MaryAnn and start looking at your options. The CSL does an excellent job at setting students up for success.

Advice

Do not be afraid to ask questions. Employers would rather step you through a process rather than have you sit there and struggle through something forever. They know you're young and inexperienced, they want to help you learn
