I loved serving my local community and having reoccurring patients that I built rapport with over-time. I liked learning a valuable skill, training other employees and developing my laboratory skills.
What I wish was different
I wish we had not been chronically understaffed at particular locations and that the pay was more comparable to the risk involved in the job (e.g. working with bloodborne pathogens daily).
Advice
It was a valuable stepping stone and insight into patient care. I had worked in patient care before this for years and this experience influenced me to pursue scientific research and further my education.
