What I liked

Had the opportunity to take on my own project and learn a lot about the processes in a research lab and gaining lots of experience operating lab equipment. Also to be able to have the satisfaction of generating my own results.

What I wish was different

To be successful at research you need to be very self motivated and driven since it operates on a flexible schedule that you decide. The benefit is that you only need to be in lab as long as you need to be to get your work done. At the same time it requires a lot of good time management skills because you will need to plan a lot in advance on what you want to get done in the short term and in the long term.
