I enjoyed having realtime experience working with children in the community I intend to serve in my career field. Gaining a better understanding of the daily routine for this organization will be invaluable in my future endeavors, and the relationships I developed with my coworkers and the children helped to solidify my career choice.
What I wish was different
I had hoped to gain more experience developing and implementing new programs for the organization, however, I quickly learned that my presence and support for existing activities was more valuable for both my own experience and the organization's needs.
Advice
Be prepared for a physical experience! Obviously kids love to play, so being able to fully engage in physical activities as much as possible goes a long way in establishing good relationships. with them.
