I wish there were more time allotted for the project, since it felt like a rush.

Inkjet R&D Engineer Intern

What I liked

I really appreciated how supportive everyone was throughout my internship, especially my mentor and manager. Their guidance made it easier for me to learn and progress in my role. In addition to the challenging and meaningful work, we also had some fun activities and trips, which added a great balance to the experience. I also felt like a true member of the team, as my mentor, manager, coworkers and HR all clearly cared a lot about the internship program. Safety was always a priority, which I found reassuring. I had the opportunity to meet and interact with professionals from various career paths, and these interactions were incredibly valuable in helping me make more informed decisions about the next steps in my career. I would definitely love to come back after I finish my grad school.

What I wish was different

Advice

Interact with as many people as you can during the internship, and don’t be afraid to ask coworkers when you’re unsure about something. These connections will help you learn more and make the experience much more rewarding.

Engineering Intern

What I liked

I really enjoyed working with the other engineers! They would take time out of their busy schedules to help and assist me with my projects when needed. Everyone at the plant was super helpful and provided insight and advice for my future.

What I wish was different

Advice

If you're confused about anything, ask questions! Any question can help gain new information and answer other questions, even if they are fundamental. I was worried about asking questions that may have obvious answers but everyone was very insightful and understanding.

What I liked

The office experience and interacting with employees across all departments! I enjoyed hands on site-visits and working outside of my comfort zone on sustainability projects.

What I wish was different

I wish that I was able to tour the Haverhill site- however this was only due to time constraints and I will be visiting in the Fall!

Advice

To be outgoing! I was quiet in the office setting at first but I found that meeting people across various teams is super beneficial and is helpful in creating a positive and exciting work environment!

What I liked

I honestly feel the recruitment and HR team did a really great job in simplifying the overall hiring and onboarding process so I feel they're pretty good and professional. My entire recruitment process including the actual interviews was completed within 2 weeks. I always found my recruiter and the interviewers to be approachable and helpful throughout the process. I like the overall work culture, the opportunities and great people at Cabot since its all about people at workplaces!

I feel being honest in showcasing my own skills and work experience is something that helped me set the right expectations for the team to expect the best productivity out of me.

What I liked

I enjoyed working in the Purification Solutions team. Everyone was very friendly and happy to answer questions about work. They were eager to explain their roles and show what their daily tasks were like. The atmosphere was serious and goal-oriented, but friendly and fun to be a part of. They worked extremely hard and were very passionate about their work.
