What I liked
I really liked the whole overall experience. I liked being able to see all aspects of the location including cage free processing, production, pullets and the feed mill. I enjoyed how much responsibility that was entrusted with me throughout each aspect of the internship. I was entrusted to run and make the decisions for the cage free processing facility for 1-1/2 weeks while I was there. I also very much enjoyed the feed mill, and the production with the layer hens. I learned more about the poultry industry and the laying aspect of it all. Including with being able to help post birds and learning about diseases and how they are able the preventative measures to help control them. Mike Carter was extremely great at teaching and taking the time to help make sure the interns understood the decisions. I learned the most from him, while at Cal-Maine.
