The internship provides an introduction to a real world campaign. From gathering research to rallying grassroots support for a cause, I was able to experience the ways in which change can be enacted.
What I wish was different
I wish UCSB provided more support towards CalPIRG and student activists in general. Our organization was left without university funding despite the size of the group and the impact of our campaigns.
Advice
I would advise potential interns to be certain that they can commit time to the job. While there is a set leadership structure, much of the work can be individual and self-guided.
