Cameron Mitchell Restaurants

Busser

May - August 2019 • New Albany, OH

What I liked

It was a great work environment, Cameron Mitchel really looks put for their employees.

What I wish was different

When I would find out my schedule (would know usually the Friday the week before but would have preferred two weeks in advance)

Advice

Work hard and communicate well. If you’re nice to people they will be nice in return.

Marketing Intern

February 2017 - April 2019 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

I love the culture and flexibility at the office. Everyone there knows your name and you are greeted by various faces raging from the executive team down to other interns. CMR really does promote their "people first" attitude and working there has set the bar for what I expect at other workplaces.

Advice

Don't be afraid to talk to people in the office. Coming in, putting your head down and doing your work will not make this experience as beneficially as it could be. Learn the names of the people in the office, make friends and ask for advice. Everyone there is as nice as could be and they will love having conversations with you.

Accountant Intern

May - August 2018 • Columbus, OH

What I liked

The people and culture at CMR are incredible. They treat the employees at their restaurants and Home Office like royalty. Between bringing in treats for special occasions and hosting varying social events, you have fun just as much as you work.

What I wish was different

I wish I had negotiated a higher hourly wage. It was my second summer interning at CMR, so I should've leveraged that by stating my improved skill-set was worth more.

Advice

I've worked for companies that have awful management and are in an awful environment, and I've worked for companies that prioritize the well-being of the employee over almost everything else. I can say with certainty that finding a company that's closer to the latter will make a world of difference in your day-to-day outlook, not just professionally while you're at work, but in your personal life as well.
