Camp Celo

Camp Counselor

June - August 2019 • Burnsville, NC

What I liked

Great work environment, fantastic staff to employer relations, very fulfilling experience and extremely supportive community.

What I wish was different

Higher pay, but it is understandable that it exists as is.

Advice

Great place to work, but very emotionally demanding, you need to have a lot of energy and patience to enjoy this job as much as you can. VERY worthwhile experience, never regretted it once, and I have worked there 3 summers in a row.

Camp Counselor

June - August 2018 • Burnsville, NC

What I liked

Everything, it was the perfect job for someone who wants an incredible community away from home. I felt so at home after only my second summer it was nuts. Anyone who appreciates basic Quaker values in a very sustainable and loving intentional community would love it. I made so many awesome friendships and professional relationships that I believe will benefit me greatly in my future job searches.

What I wish was different

The pay was low for 3 months work, but it was the sort of work I would have done for much less because I love it so much.

Advice

Be ready to find your strengths and develop them over the summer in a way you didn't expect, this community plays to the strengths of every staff member not only to ensure a smooth running camp experience for the campers, but also provide a summer of positivity and growth for the staff members.
