I loved working with the kids. I grew a lot and gained many new skills. I loved being involved in faith conversations with kids while also helping them to have fun experience and build new relationships. It was also so much fun to be a part of a good loving Christian community.

Advice
It's gonna be hard work, but it's worth it. Sometimes you don't get much sleep or you just have a stressful week, but in the end all the experiences you'll have and all you'll learn makes it worth it.

Program coordinator
May - August 2022 • Gowen, MI
What I liked
I love the people on staff and the kids that come each year. The Summer of 2021 i served as a counselor and I loved being able to talk freely about Jesus and have good conversations with the kids. In 2022 I served as Program coordinator as well as waterfront director. Those are probably my favorite jobs because not only do I get to mentor kids, but I get to mentor my peers.
What I wish was different
I wish that we could have more staff bonding time and that the staff would stay over the weekends more often. Just a small thing
Advice
Go into this experience willing to grow in your faith and walk alongside kids and peers navigating their faith journey. One more thing: be ready for an adventure!

Camp Counselor
June - August 2019 • Gowen, MI
What I liked
The staff community was full of great people and the camp made it very easy to take charge of the cabin's activities and get creative, or to have a laid back week of more organized things for kids to do.
What I wish was different
I wish there had been a little more time for the staff as a group to hang out and bond with each other. Almost 100% of our time was spent with the kids, even after they went to bed. Not terrible, just a small thing!
